Mary Bakker

About the artist:

Mary was gifted her first set of paints in High School. She studied art a RCC in Riverside, Ca. However, she is mostly self taught.

In 1999, she won the People's Choice ribbon for her painting, "Retirement" at the Dogwood Festival Invitational Art Show at the Lewis-Clark Center for the Arts And History in Lewiston, Idaho. This painting also received the First Place Award at the Salmon River Art Guild Regional Show in Riggins, Idaho, and in 2000 was one of the Honorable Mention winners in the "Artists Magazines Realism Today" competition.

In 1996, she was accepted to enter in the Art Walk in Sandpoint, Idaho.

She has participated in numerous art shows and won many ribbons for her work.

She was accepted into the Idaho Paints Idaho 2005 exhibit at the Eagle Rock Art Museum and selected to be a part of the traveling show that ended in June of 2006.

Her painting, "Guardian", won best of show in the Salmon River Art Guild Regional show in October 2008.

Mary is a long time member of the Salmon River Art Guild. She not only served on the board, but also has led countless workshops, beginner classes in oil and pastels and is scheduled to teach a drawing fundamentals class soon.
