The History of

The Salmon River Art Guild

 

The Salmon River Art Guild was founded in 1964 by three artist friends from Riggins, Idaho just 30 miles up river from its current home of White Bird. The vision of Opal Carlson, Grace Aitken and Dorothy Quinnlen has survived over half a century.

Today the Salmon River Art Guild showcases a variety of talent and interests, from landscape paintings in watercolors, acrylics, oils, colored pencil, bronzed sculpture, polymer clay sculptureslocal photography, and photography. You will find pet portraits, landscapesIdaho landscapes, murals and farm scenes, farm and garden artstylized paintings, and upcycled metal sculptures to yard art and fabric art, mixed media/fabric art, handmade fabric items and polymer clay figures, floral paintings, hand painted rocks, and more. Current membership includes more than 40 artists. Several members are represented on this website.

What Do We Do?

Monthly meetings followed with mini workshops when possible. Meetings and or classes are held the second Thursday of each month at 10 a.m. Pacific time with few exceptions. Contact SRAG for more info.

Classes: SRAG brings in well-known artists each year for workshops for its members. Contact SRAG for more info.

Paint outs-sometimes in conjunction with other art guilds. Contact us for info.

Shows: SRAG sponsors a minimum of two shows each year.

Our Objective:

to provide an opportunity for members to meet and socialize with others who share an interest in the visual arts; to encourage individuals of the community to express their artistic abilities and to increase the level of awareness and appreciation of art.

To Join:

The Salmon River Art Guild welcomes artists of all skill levels and interests    18 years old and older.
