About The Artist:

Leah Harvey considers herself a late bloomer in the world of painting.  A photography enthusiast since high school, with her home black and white dark room, she loved the world of film. After moving to White Bird, she started rubbing elbows with local artists. She always said she couldn't draw a decent stick figure but was open to taking art classesWatercolors with Jackie Zumalt, oils with Mary Bakker, acrylics with Larry Ferguson, Kaye York and Valeria Yost, and extended art classes with Gloria Dawson Teats. Finally, it clicked together, and she fell in love with acrylics. Leah also dabbles in pastels and has recently learned how to do needle felting. Salmon River Art Guild has opened up a whole new world for Leah with some great opportunities to learn different mediums. Her subjects range from farm and gardening to landscapes paintings mountains rivers lakes and more.

Leah was raised on a farm in Eastern MT, commercial fished in Southeast AK for 10 years and then moved to Northern Idaho in 1992.  A large garden and processing the fruits of her labor keep her busy during the summer and fall months. Harvesting, using and sharing knowledge of local medicinal weeds is also at the top of her "loves-to-do" list.

Leah Harvey has served on the SRAG board for many years. She is not only skilled with art but she enjoys her large garden.
